Child at Heart
These past few weeks I’ve witnessed rather unexpected blasts from my past. In light of recent events in my life (yours included) – from writing essays on the Grimm brothers, seeing designers take inspiration from Hansel and Gretel, to the same siblings brought to life on the big screen along with other childhood tales (read: Jack the Giant Slayer) – movies that I haven’t seen yet but am referencing still – I have come up with youth inspired (close to toddler, really) outfits that to me are reminiscent of Gretel and her sugar-laden house, Red Riding Hood and maybe even Alice in Wonderland.
Oh, I should probably warn you, dear reader, that from now on I’ll be categorizing my posts. Virtual outfit posts like this that could never possibly come to life will have its own category (witty title to follow). The rest of the categories I will reveal as we go along but know that fantastical outfits for my delusional self will be a constant-ish part of this site.
If you were wondering, this post/category was prompted by 1) the series of Fashion Weeks just ending leaving me with the feeling that my current wardrobe is utterly inadequate and 2) the amount of joy I get when creating outfits in my head – even if the idea of me owning Lanvin and Saint Laurent pieces only lasts about 30 seconds.
I wonder, if I The Secret these outfits bad enough, you think they’d magically appear?
